A New Era begins for Nnewi Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture.

Thursday 12th of July 2018 will forever be remembered by the business community in Nnewi as the Nnewi chamber of commerce, industry, mines and agriculture (NCCIMA) held her Annual General Meeting and Investiture of Mr. Ifeanyi Uzodike as the 9th President of Nnewi Chamber of Commerce, industry, mines and agriculture by the National President of National association of chambers of Commerce, Industry, mines and agriculture(NACCIMA) Dr. Mrs Iyalode Alaba Lawson.

The Annual General Meeting and investiture which held at the popular CONV-AJ Events Center Nnewi attracted key stakeholders, Captains of industry, business men and women, government functionaries and other highly esteemed personalities from far and wide.

In his opening remarks, the Chairman of the event Sir Dr. Chika Okafor welcomed all the stakeholders that had gathered for the inauguration/investiture. He highlighted the importance of the event especially as it concern the economic life of Anambra State.

In his address, the outgoing President of Nnewi chambers of commerce, industry, mines and agriculture Engr. Linus Ilozue was grateful to God for a successful tenure. He went further to say that the NCCIMA branch will be receiving a fresh boost with the new leadership headed by a tested management guru, a seasoned administrator who has demonstrated his transformational prowess in various associations, societies and companies. He highlighted some of his achievement which include the acquisition of 1,000sqm of land for the permanent Secretariat of the chamber, increase in membership and revenue, the planning of Nnewi/China international trade, working with the ministry of power resources to expedite action on the 330MVA/15OMVA-132KV transmission line from Ihiala to Nnewi, facilitation of trade exhibition, information and communication and boosting other commercial activities and many other numerous achievement. He thanked members of the executive body of the chamber who worked tirelessly to ensure the progress of chamber throughout his tenure.

In his Speech, the Governor of Anambra State His Excellency Chief Dr. Willie Obiano who was represented by his Deputy Dr. Nkem Okeke congratulated the new President of NCCIMA Mr. Ifeanyi Uzodike and urged him to consolidate on the achievements of the outgoing President. He noted that Nnewi remains a very important town as far the economy of Anambra state is concerned, he promised that the government will continue to consolidate on it’s efforts to transform the industrial city of Nnewi especially in the area of Power.

The Commissioner of Youth Entrepreneurship and Creative Economy in Anambra State Hon. Bonaventure Enemail congratulated the new President of the association and Promised to work together with them especially as it concerns Youth Entrepreneurship.

Highlights of the event includes:
  • A paper presentation titled: “The making of a successful and sustainable Enterprise: Challenges and Opportunities” by Engr (Dr.) O. J. Mbonu, Partner Execution Edge Limited Lagos, Nigeria.
  • The Deputy Governor Dr. Nkem Okeke was presented with a gift by NACCIMA Youth Entrepreneurship Coordinator Anambra State branch.
  • Recognition of members of outgoing executive/Issuing of certificate to new members.
  • Investiture of the new President Mr. Ifeanyi Uzodike and introduction of members of the new executive.
  • Award of Honorary life President to the outgoing President Engr. Linus Ilozue.
  • The inauguration of Anambra State NACCIMA Youth Entrepreneurs under the leadership of the Special Assistant to the Governor of Anambra State on Youth Entrepreneurship Hon. Eloka Maduekwe.

Esteemed dignitaries present at the event include, Outgoing President of NACCIMA Anambra State Mr Humphrey Ngonadi; President General of Nzuko-Ora Nnewi, Chief Sir. Udemezu; The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Anambra State on Youth Entrepreneurship, mobilization and Strategy, Hon. Prince Nnamsom Nwafor Orizu; The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Anambra State on Youth Empowerment, Hon. Anyaeche Somto; Chairman Anambra State Youth Council, Hon. Smart Okafor and other dignitaries.
