Group kicks to Increase women’s participation in politics

Women have been urged to get actively involved in the electoral processes of both registrations for voting and contesting for elective positions in the forth-coming 2019 general elections.

This was part of an ongoing sensitization on the need for active participation by women in Nigeria’s electoral process.

The event which held on Saturday 11th August 2018, being promoted as parts of activities marking the annual congress of women, ‘The August Meeting’, was a powered by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) the Unique Development Foundation For Women and the Women in Action group.

With the theme ‘Women Participation in politics and Important of PVC’, focusing on the technicalities of getting women involved in politics and the danger associated with women abstaining from the political process. The visitation of the groups involved to several places in Anambra State held during the 2018 women August meeting held in several churches across Anambra and had in attendance women drawn from both the Catholic and Anglican faith and other denominations.

Amongst those in attendance were, Mrs Eucharia Adukwulu JP of the Unique Development Foundation for Women, Lady Lucy Mmadu, the leader of the Catholic women organization in Anambra state and Prof. Mercy Anagbogu, the Regional Adviser of the Women in Action Committee, the representative of INEC in Awka, Mrs Njideka amongst a host of many others.
