Pa Edwin Kiagbodo Clark, has dismissed claims that the police apparatchik was not aware of the raid of his Abuja home on Tuesday, despite the spirited attempt by the Inspector General of Police (IG), Ibrahim Idris to exculpate himself of the blame.

The respected Ijaw leader told one of the batches of sympathisers, who have been thronging his home in Asokoro, a high-brow area of Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) that the police authorities in Abuja were contacted, when the raid was still on but failed to call off their personnel.

All that time, Ambassador (Godknows) Igali was with me. When they were searching, we phoned them – the AIG (Assistant Inspector General) Intelligence, Shehu, by name and he said he knew nothing about it. But we told him, speak to the boys. He did. One would have expected him to tell them, come back. But they continued. So, the statement, oh! We don’t know anything about this – I have forgiven them,” he said.

One of the callers at the home of the former Senator and Federal Commissioner for Information, during the military government of General Yakubu Gowon, was former Deputy Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and presidential aspirant, Kingsley Muoghalu.

Muoghalu, who decried the treatment meted out to the nonagenarian, pleaded with him to accept the apology of the police authorities.
