When AIT visited the scene, soldiers who were on ground, stoutly refused any attempt to capture the scene on camera.

Posters with different messages protesting the situation in the country, including insecurity and unemployment, were seen pasted everywhere around the mast.

AIT gathered that the man arrived at the area in company of two others who have been arrested by soldiers

An eyewitness told AIT that the drama began at about noon and as at the time our crew went back to the scene on Wednesday evening, the man was still perching on the mast.

Even though soldiers and other security agencies were on ground, a sizeable crowd of on-lookers had gathered close to the vicinity, but no one was allowed to get close to the mast.
