Fifty-nine graduates of Animal Science (GAS) drawn from seven universities across Nigeria have been inducted into the Nigerian Institute of Animal Science.
The induction held at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, attracted a host of personalities from the university community, as well as members of the Institute.
The ceremony, anaedooline gathered, was to among other things, create the necessary advocacy and set standard in the profession.
While declaring the ceremony open, the Vice-Chancellor, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Prof. Joseph Ahaneku, encouraged the inductees to advance the course of Animal Science to gain a pride of place in the twenty-first century as well as develop the will to exploit the opportunities in the practice of the career.
He described the induction as a celebration of wise investment of transfer of skills and expansion of knowledge, challenging the graduands to contribute their quota towards economic growth.
In an address of welcome, the Pro Chancellor of Unizik, Alhaji Azeez Bello, reminded them of the dynamic nature of the society, hence, the need to involve technological innovations in championing a course for self development and called for continuous education and solicited the Council’s support towards provision of enabling environment for learning and research.

In his goodwill message, a stakeholder, Dr. Ndukwe, urged the inductees not to join the queue of job seekers, but rather to exchange ideas and update their knowledge on agricultural practices.
While inducting them into NIAS, the Registrar of the institute, Prof. Eustace Iyayi, charged the inductees to conform to the established standard and intensify drive for improvement in the profession.
