Fairly Used and New Motorcycle Dealers Association (FUNMDA) Chairman, Eloka Ubajekwe, has lamented the infiltration of fakers in the Nkwo Nnewi Motorcycle Market, saying that the fraudsters deprive the Anambra State Government of revenue running into several millions.

Ubajekwe said fake insurance agents, fake plate license and receipts operators have taken over from genuine operators prior to his becoming chairman of the market association.

He said the market, which has over four hundred traders pay their Internally Generated Revenue (IGR ) to the government but lamented that the amount was too small compared to the amount of revenue lost to the fraudsters in the market.

Ubajekwe, who disclosed this in an interview added also that his leadership had since assumption of office, tackled myriad of challenges, including insecurity in the market, fake receipt issuance, fake insurance and other similar vices in the market with a view to reducing the amount being lost to them by government.

“This is one market where all kinds fake product operators have field day. There are fake plate numbers, fake insurance operators, fake receipts, among other things.

Their activities deprive government of IGR running into several millions. But since we came on board, my leadership said ‘no’ to their fraudulent activities. We vowed that if we got anybody issuing fake insurance notes, fake receipts or any other fake document, we shall deal decisively with such person”, Ubajekwe said,

The FUNMDA Chairman called on the Anambra State government and other relevant agencies to assist the market get rid of fraudsters.
