200L STUDENT ATTEMPTED SUICIDE OVER GIRLFRIEND
A 200 level student of Godfrey Okoye University, Enugu, Thursday, November 22, attempted to take his life by hanging because of alleged disagreement with his girlfriend.
Anaedooline gathered that the 200 level student of Architecture, simply identified as Chinaza, 23, locked himself up in his room at Ad Gentes Hostel, hung a thick rope around his neck and fastened it upon a fan holder on the ceiling; and his body was already dangling before his roommate arrived.
“I arrived at about 9:00 pm the fateful night and our door was locked from within. I knocked but no one responded. I was rather hearing someone screaming; so, I decided to break the door. When I went in, I saw the body of my roommate dangling on the ceiling. I quickly brought him down because he was still alive. I also went out and called the attention of other people”, Chinaza’s roommate, who gave his name as Sunday, narrated.
Sunday said he was aware that his roommate was dating one Linna, a 100 level student of the school; adding that he was also aware of a disagreement they had which affected Chinaza emotionally. He said, however, that he never knew that “mere separation with a girlfriend will make a guy commit suicide “.
