JUBILATION AS WORK BEGINS ON NNEWI EROSION SITE
There is presently an atmosphere of jubilation in Nnewi, Nnewi North LGA of Anambra State, as work begins in earnest towards reclaiming a massive land area devastated by erosion gullies in parts Umuogbo.
The Umuogbo erosion site in Nnewichi, Nnewi North Local Government Area, is one of the 972 active erosion sites in Anambra State.

The project is jointly sponsored by Anambra State government and the Nigerian Erosion and Watershed Management Project, NEWMAP in collaboration with the World Bank.
Anaedooline reporter, who monitored work progress at the site described the pace of work as very encouraging.
One of the workers at the construction site told our reporter that work will start fully at the main site in coming weeks.

It will be recalled that six months ago, the Executive Governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano, disclosed that construction, reclamation, channelization and remediation work for Umugbo Nnewichi, Nnewi erosion site is expected to gulp N3 billion.
The governor also informed that all the residents affected by the erosion have been paid full compensation.
