BREAKING: ARMY RELEASES DAILY TRUST EDITOR

 

The released editor maintains that he was courteously treated, but said his mobile phones and laptop are still with the military.

 

Uthman Abubakar. the Maiduguri Bureau Chief of Daily Trust newspaper has been released by the military authorities.

He was arrested on Sunday when officers of the Nigerian Army conducted a series of raids on some Daily Trust offices across the nation.

Editor-in-Chief of Daily Trust, Mannir Dan-Ali, announced the release shortly after speaking to the editor, who was brought back to the Maiduguri office by an unnamed Major who handed him over to a security officer at the office.

The released editor maintains that he was courteously treated, but said his mobile phones and laptop are still with the military.

According to Abubakar, the Army told him that they need time to finish the forensic checks they are carrying out on the equipment.
