BREAKING: ANAMBRA POLICE ARREST 103 CULTISTS, ROBBER

 

 The anambra police command have arrested over One hundred suspected cultists and armed robbers in the last three weeks.

The cultists were arrested in different parts of Anambra state including oko community in Orumba North, Umuoji in Idemmili, Umuokpu in Awka South, Ifitedunu in Dunukofia , Abakaliki street in Awka south as well as Nise Awka South and Nkpor/Ogidi among others.

The p0lice release by PPRO Haruna Mohammed on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Anambra state , CP Garba Umar on the arrested cultists and robbers is below:

In continuation of its efforts  to stem the tide of crime and ensure safety of lives and property in Anambra State, the Command Special Anti Cultism unit,FSARS and Divisional Police headquarters had during the period under review carried out a coordinated Raids on Criminal hideouts and blackspots as follow

1.Between 20/12/2018 to date, the State Command through its Special  Anti Cultism Squad has arrested total number of One hundred Suspected cultists from various parts of the State as follows.Umunachi,Dunukofia,LGA 4 suspected cultists were arrested, Onitsha 17 Suspects arrested, Umoji and Umokpu Awka 15 Suspects arrested,Oko 4 Suspects arrested,Anambra/Ifitedunu 8 Suspects arrested, Awada/Ekwusigo 3 Suspects arrested, Ezi-Eliase 1 suspect arrested, Ihiala 4 Suspected cultists/murder suspects arrested, Aguleri axis 5 suspects arrested, Okpuno/Abakaliki Street 10 suspects arrested,Awka 6 suspects arrested, Umuawulu/Nibo/Nise 5 suspects arrested, Umoaba Anam 1 Robbery Suspect /cultist arrested Awka North 5 suspects arrested, Nkpor/Ogidi area 12 suspects arrested respectively.

2. Consequently, the unit has equally recovered the following exhibits from the raids,

-Two machetes,

-One Jack knife,

-Two Axes and one butchers knife.

3.Meanwhile, out of the 100.suspects arrested so far,Twenty seven 27  have confessed and charged to Court 37 were screened and released while Thirty four (36) others are undergoing investigation.

It would be recalled that on the 24/12/2018 armed robbers attacked one Linus Emeka and snatched his Lexus jeep  with REG NO. ENU 779 NX at Gunpoint.

Following the incident,Police  Detectives attached to FSARS Awkuzu trailed and arrested two suspects in their hideout at Ifite Awka on the 30/12/2018 at about 6pm as follows.

-Ebuka Emekwite  aged 26 years and,

– Uchendu Afunwa  aged 25 years all ‘m’ of Obosi area of Idemili North LGA of Anambra State.

Suspects confessed to be members of same syndicate who robbed the complainant.

Exhibit recovered in their possession include One Baretta pistol with six rounds of .9mm live ammunition.

Case under investigation after which suspects would be charged to Court for prosecution.

On the 2/1/2019 at about 2:30 pm following intelligence report, Police detectives attached to sars awka in conjunction with vigilante group in Ebenebe arrested one Mabuchi Chinwuba ‘m’ of Ebenebe Awka.

Preliminary investigation revealed that suspect is a notorious Criminal and has been terrorizing residents of the area before his arrest.

Meanwhile, exhibits recovered in his possession include a Cut to size single barrel gun and one expanded cartridge.

Case under investigation after which suspects would be charged to Court for prosecution.
