DUROTOYE MAY JOIN EZEKWESILI IN EXIT FROM PRESIDENTIAL RACE

After the surprise exit of Dr Oby Ezekwesili from Nigeria’s presidential race, another candidate Fela Durotoye said he may step down for either African Action Congress’s Omoyele Sowore or Young Progressives Party’s Kingsley Moghalu.

“I AM READY to come into any coalition talks with my brothers Omoyele Sowore @yelesho and Prof. Kingsley Moghalu @moghalukingsley and to submit myself to any transparent process that will help us arrive at a selection of a Consensus Candidate from amongst us,” Durotoye said in a message posted to his Instagram page.

Durotoye was one of the 11 candidates that formed Presidential Aspirants Coming Together (PACT) and eventually emerged a consensus candidate.

The process that produced Durotoye was supervised by Ezekwesili, who was yet to declare for presidency as at then.

Moghalu disputed the outcome of the primary election and insisted he was still in the race.

“PACT did not produce a truly consensus candidate,” Moghalu said in August 2018.

However, Durotoye insisted on Thursday that if the process produces any other candidate apart from himself he is ready to step aside and support the person.

“if the process produces any other candidate apart from myself, I AM READY to support whoever the Consensus Candidate is and to do all I can to support the coalition to win the 2019 Presidential elections for our generation,” Durotoye said.

“Let us come together and seize this historic window of opportunity for our generation to select one of us to go ahead of us,” he added.
