ANAMBRA: MAN HANG SELF AFTER STEALING AT UMUNZE

There was mammoth crowd in Ubaha village, Orumba south local government area of Anambra state as a man believed to be in his 20s was found lifelessly hanging under a tree in the early hours of Sunday

It was gathered that the deceased whose name was given as Kosi was earlier in the morning of the fateful day apprehended at the Nkwo market side of Umunze by the men of Umunze Vigilante group for snatching and stealing handbag containing phone and other items.

According to an eye witness who pleaded for anonymity,” Kosi, popularly called ‘Captaincy’ was held for stealing at Nkwo market and was mercilessly beaten by the vigilante group before soldiers on duty in the area freed him.”

The eye witness who claimed to hail from Ubaha village also said that it was hours after the incident at Nkwo that news came to him that the same Kosi hanged himself.

Also an elder who claimed to be a relation of the diseased said Kosi had been caught severally for one crime or the other mostly stealing. But the thought of killing himself is what he still can’t understand.

When News Agency visited the scene where the diseased hanged himself, it was revealed that Kosi hail from Ozara, a neighboring village to Ubaha.

As at the time of filing this report, Efforts were made to contact the parents of the diseased who are said to be civil servants at the Orumba south local government.
