FIRE DESTROYS INEC MATERIALS 6 DAYS TO GENERAL ELECTION (PHOTOS)

Ballot Boxes, Generators, cubicles, newly printed electronic and manual Voters Register, uncollected PVCs, materials for the preparations of RAC and other materials yet to be identified, have been destroyed by fire at the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in Qua’an Pan Local Government Area of Plateau State on Saturday night; February 9.

 

This is coming barely one week to the 2019 general election.

Plateau State INEC Head of Department, Voter Education, and Publicity, Osaretin Imahiyereobo; confirmed the incident in a statement on Sunday, February 10.

Imahiyereobo accused security man in the INEC office of being responsible for the fire.

He described the incident as a big setback for the preparations for the general elections in the Local Government Area; adding that the management team led by the Administrative Secretary, Gbadamasi Rasheed, are assessing the situation.
