APC ACCUSES YPP OF BURNING ITS CAMPAIGN VEHICLE IN NNEWI

The candidate of the All Progressive Congress, APC, for Nnewi North Constituency, Anambra State, Kenneth Anazodo, has accused the mercenaries of the Young Progressive Party, YPP, in the constituency, of being responsible for burning his campaign vehicle last week.

In an exclusive chat with Anaedooline.com, Anazodo said his campaign vehicle, a branded Sienna LE car, was parked at the back of Rose of Sharon Hospital, along Nnewi-Oba Old Road, Nnewi, on Wednesday, February 13, when youths allegedly sponsored by the YPP came and set it on fire.

He said: “That fateful day, I was in my house when my phone rang. It was the Chief Medical Director of the Rose of Sharon Hospital, Nnewi, who was calling me.

“He told me that my campaign vehicle at the back of his hospital was on fire; and that they were making efforts to put it off.

“When I got there, he told me that some youths came chanting pro YPP songs. He told me that the youths were saying that Nnewi is for YPP, and that as they were saying so, they set the vehicle on fire before they fled”.

The House of Assembly hopeful said that he reported to the Otolo Division of the Nigerian Police Force, and also petitioned the Nnewi Area Commander, narrating his ordeal.

He called on his teaming supporters not to succumb to intimidation on their resolve to elect him as their representative on Saturday, March 9.

Confronted with the allegation, the candidate of the YPP in the constituency, Obinna Ngonadi, described the allegation as tissue of lies. He said that APC is the party known for violence, not YPP.

“YPP supporters did not set anybody’s vehicle on fire. We’re not known for violence. APC has no support base here, and instead of hiding their faces in defeat, they resort to blackmail”, he said.
