PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION: ANGRY NIGERIANS TO BESIEGE ABUJA ON MONDAY

Following what was described as flawed presidential election in Nigeria, where the incumbent president, Mohamadu Buhari, retained power, a group of angry Nigerians under the auspices of Occupy Nigeria Movement, has swore to besiege the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, on Monday, March 4, 2019, to press down their demand on INEC to nullify the election.

The group went further to call on all well-meaning Nigerians to come out and join in the peaceful but very firm protest scheduled to take place by 9:00am at the Unity Fountain, Abuja; dressed in white tops and any other attire.

The group stated that industrial scale of thumb printing that went on in several parts of Nigeria and prevention of citizens to exercise their franchise made mockery of the election; and will not be accepted.

The group reeled out seven point demands to be tabled during the protest to include that:

1. Voting must be conducted for the 5million disenfranchised Nigerians.

2. In the spirit of transparency, INEC must open its back end servers to stakeholders.

3. The military personnel deployed across the country be immediately withdrawn, in compliance with the ruling of the Supreme Court on the matter.

4. The constitution of an independent panel of inquiry to critically investigate the role of military personnel in rigging the elections.

5. The perpetrators of violence in the Niger Delta be brought to book to account for their crimes.

6. The thugs, who harassed voters in Lagos against fellow Nigerians be brought to account for their crimes; and

7. The international community should call the ruling party to order as Nigerians will not accept a president that has not been duly elected by majority of Nigerians.
