ELECTION RIGGING: RESIGN OR BE RIDICULED, RIGHTS ACTIVIST TELLS BUHARI

The chairman of Human Rights, Liberty Access and Peace Defenders Foundation, HURIJE, Dede Uzor A. Uzor,
has called on President Muhammad Buhari to resign due to lack of credibility of the February 23, 2019 Presidential election, stressing that Nigerians of good conscience and democrats will definitely resist the injustice and the and fraud perpetrated in many northern states, including the glaring incidence of electoral fraud all over the nation.

The right activist said that there were overwhelming evidence all over the country and contradictory results posted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which proved that the integrity of the election was seriously compromised.

Uzor also called for the amendment of the Nigerian Constitution that will compel the President and Commander In Chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces, Federal Republic of Nigeria, to step down before an election he is a participant.

Speaking to newsmen in Onitsha on Sunday, March 3, in his reaction to the alleged massive rigging of the presidential election by the incumbent party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dede Uzor said that is the only way out of the continued electoral fraud perpetuated by any party in power in the country.

He said as long as the president is allowed to stay in office while running for election, the president and his party men will use government machinery, resources and institutions to manipulate the election to their advantage; as APC had allegedly done in the last presidential election.

Dede Uzor, who is also the National Publicity Secretary of Campaign for Democracy (CD), said the last presidential election was marred with massive irregularities which compromised the integrity of the election and electoral process before the eyes of Nigerians and international community.

He called on the presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to resist attempts from any quarter to cajole him not to pursue his mandate to the logical conclusion.
