GUNMEN SHOOT IMO PDP SENATORIAL CANDIDATE’S AIDE
Two gunmen on Thursday shot an aide to the Peoples Democratic Party candidate in the Imo-West Senatorial District, Jones Onyereri.
The victim, Nnamdi Nsorom, was shot at the gate to his principal’s residence at Owerre Nkwo-Orji in the Nkwerre Local Government Area of the state.
The state commissioner of police, Dasuki Galadanchi, who confirmed the development to our correspondent in his office in Owerri, said, “Fortunately the victim did not die.”
The CP said Nsorom was rushed to the emergency unit of the Federal Medical Centre, Owerri, where he was operated on.
According to the security chief, two gunmen who operated on a motorcycle shot the politician.
The CP said, “Two men who operated on a motorcycle shot the victim at the house of the PDP senatorial candidate in Imo-West. He was immediately rushed to the emergency unit of the Federal Medical Centre, Owerri, where he was operated on. We have taken over the investigation process.”
An associate of the senatorial candidate, Eze Ugochukwu, said the candidate, who is a member of the House of Representatives, had received threat calls.
