UPPER IWEKA INFERNO: IGBO LEADER COMMISERATE WITH FAMILIES OF VICTIMS

The Spiritual leader of the Igbo nation –Chief Rommy Ezeonwuka (OGILISI IGBO) sympathizes and commiserate with the families of those affected by the ghastly motor accident at Upper Iweka axis of the commercial city of Onitsha on Wednesday the 13th of March 2019.

The unfortunate Inferno caused by a fallen petrol tanker which lost control and rammed into roadside traders and passersby killed many on the spot and left several others with varying degrees of injury.

Reacting to this incident in Onitsha yesterday, Chief Rommy Ezeonwuka sadly noted that the incident is most unfortunate as the sudden deaths recorded as a result is very painful and highly regrettable. He prayed to God grant the families, friends and the loved ones of those who lost their lives the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

“It is very painful and everybody is touched by this tragic incident. It is usually a sad thing to come in terms with the reality that our loved ones have died, not even in a tragic circumstance such the Inferno. I encourage the affected families not to deter nor become despondent. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.”

OGILISI IGBO also commended the efforts of the Anambra State Government under the leadership of Chief Willie Obiano for the quick response to the incident.

Recall the Gov Obiano, in the company of the State Commissioner for health – Dr Joe Akabuike and other key stakeholders in the state visited the site of the Inferno on inspection, and also visited those those who sustained injuries from the accident at Toronto Hospital Onitsha in view of sympathizing with them and also offering every possible assistance by the state Govt to ensure that they fully recover in a no distant time.

The Governor also charged members of the Panel set up by the State Government to investigate the incidence, to live up the expectations of the Ndị Anambra by conducting a thorough investigation to get to the root of the cause of the incidence in view of preventing further occurrence.

On the Prevention of similar cases, OGILISI advised members of the public to cooperate with Governor Obiano’s decongestion drive and avoid roadside trading. This is because roadside trading in a busy area like Upper Iweka endangers people’s lives and the tragic incident of Wednesday is a piece of clear evidence to the reality that roadside trading is highly dangerous to human lives and properties.

Further, the Igbo Spiritual harped on Ndigbo, in general, to stop depositing dead bodies in morgues because that also endangers the living noting that the souls of the dead bodies in morgues are very angry and needs to be liberated (buried).

The law of creation says “Man thou at Earth and unto Earth thou shall return.” The living owes God a great deal by the virtue of disregarding the “sand unto sand and dust unto dust” ritual, which should take place within 24 hours of man’s demise just like what is obtainable is the Muslim religion.

OGILISI IGBO observed that the amount of dead bodies currently deposited in morgues across Igbo land is wreaking havoc on the living in several ways that mere human beings my hardly comprehend, advising that those who have dead bodies of their relations in morgues have an urgent responsibility to withdraw the corpses from Morgue and bury them.

Chief Rommy Ezeonwuka also tasked oil firms, tanker owners and all heavy-duty vehicle operators to quickly go back to the drawing board and seek for an ending solution to the tragedies caused by malfunctioning of their vehicles. “Heavy-duty vehicles, most especially this conveying premium motor spirits” should not be allowed to move about in the daytime, contesting the already congested roads with other smaller vehicles. Strict measures also should be applied in the employment of drivers, as most companies allow inexperienced drivers and irresponsible people to control their vehicles, putting everyone at risk”
