PREGNANT WOMAN, TWO CHILDREN BURNT TO DEATH AS FIRE GUTS HOME IN ANAMBRA

 

A pregnant woman, Mrs Nwazuru Okeke and her two children, Chidiebube Okeke and Makuochukwu Okeke, have lost their lives to a mysterious fire that gutted their residence on Tuesday evening.

Sources told a news agency that the cause of the incident which happened at Umuoffor village, Okija in Ihiala local government area of Anambra State at about 7:30 pm, was yet to be ascertained.

The pregnant woman and her two children aged one and two years, were at home when the incident began, and were trapped and burnt beyond recognition.

Her husband, Mr Maxwell Okeke, who was not at home at the time of the incident according to sources, was the only member of the house who survived.

The state police command’s public relations officer, SP Haruna Mohammed confirmed the incident, saying that Police detectives attached to the Okija Division visited the scene and helped to put out the fire, with the assistance of local volunteers in the area.

 

Mohammed corroborated our source, saying that the cause of the fire remained unknown.

He, however, said that the Commissioner of Police, CP Rabiu Ladodo had ordered a full-scale investigation to ascertain circumstances surrounding the incident.
