HELP : CORP MEMBER IN CRITICAL CONDITION ABANDONED IN TEACHING HOSPITAL NNEWI

Judith Iloka, a National Youth Service Corp member serving in Nnewi, Anambra state who was admitted at Nnamdi Azikiwe teaching hospital has been abandoned despite being in a very critical condition .

According to her colleagues (Corp members) who spoke to anaedoonline.ng, Judith was very fine until 27th of March 2019 when she suddenly woke up by 2 am screaming, ” My head, my head!” after which she collapsed.

Judith Iloka was quickly rushed to University Teaching Hospital where she was placed on oxygen until daybreak.

According to her friends and Corp members, the situation seems not to be getting any better , one of them who spoke to anaedoonline.ng lamented saying, “After many pleas from the Corpers, NAUTH requested that a scan should be conducted on her , we (Corp members ) contributed a total sum of forty-five thousand Naira (N45, 000) for her scan, even though we are aware that the NYSC scheme has a health insurance policy in place. The scan was conducted outside the NAUTH premises because their machine was faulty. ”

Speaking on the medical attention Judith was receiving at the hospital, a Corp member who pleaded annonimity said, “there is no doctor with her, they are just wasting time and the LGI (Local Government Inspector ) has asked us to hand her over to her parents, how can she travel with oxygen? It was difficult to even move her for the scan” .

Probing Judith’s friends further , they informed us that the scan showed that Judith has internal bleeding and that blood might have gone into her brain. The Local Government Inspector (LGI) was not on the ground and was alleged to have said that Judith should be taken home and handed over to her parents in her condition.

As of the time of filing this report, no medical personnel were seen attending to her. It was alleged that the ICU Unit of NAUTH is insisting that N44,000 must be paid before she will receive medical care .
In the meantime, Miss Judith Iloke is being administered Oxygen.
