ABSENCE OF CINEMA IN NNEWI IS DEPRIVING ANAMBRA OF REVENUE – NNEWI NORTH AGN CO-ORDINATOR

Nnewi North Co-ordinator for Actors Guild Of Nigeria , Prince Amaechi has lamented the absence of a Cinema in Nnewi , saying that It stunts the growth of Nollywod and entertainment in Nnewi.

The Filmamker who spoke with Anaedoonline on the phone told us that the absence of a Cinema in a town as big as Nnewi has affected the growth of Nollywood and entertainment in Nnewi , thereby depriving Nnewi and Anambra of massive revenue , he pleaded with Stakeholders and cooperate bodies to remedy the situation.

He said, “Nnewi is big enough to have a cinema, and the lack of it has affected the growth of Nollywood in Nnewi , not just Nollywood, it also affects entertainment in General. People Travel as far as Asaba to watch Movies at the cinemas, this deprives Anambra State of revenue.”

When asked if AGN has approached Nnewi stakeholders to see if something will be done about it , he was in the affirmative .

Prince Amaechi said,” Yes, we have approached some people, but you know, when you give someone money for a particular project, and the person does not use the money for the said project, you will be reluctant to bring out money for another project next time. That’s the problem we are facing currently”

When we asked him to throw more light on the issue, he declined to make further comment, however he added that Mr Ifeanyi Ubah once promised to set up Nollywood Tv but it appears he diverted the funds to Authority Newspaper and Authority Fm.

Speaking further, Prince Amaechi called on Cooperate bodies and stakeholders to look into the Nnewi Entertainment sector as it will definitely yield dividends.
