Massive Relief As Anambra State Motor Spare Parts Dealers Association (ASMPDA) Conducts Election After More Than Nine Years

Anambra State Motor Part Parts Dealers Association (ASMPDA) yesterday, 12th April 2019 conducted their election after Nine years and one month.


In an election in which Mr. Dennis Ikegwuonu who was reportedly the popular choice contested for ASMPDA Chairmanship position and won unopposed with 580 votes, the former Chairman, Mr. Chibueze Gabriel continued Stay as ASMPDA Chairman finally came to an end after many years.


The election which was Chaired by the Commissioner for trade and commerce, Hon Mmadubuko Christian was declared free and fair by election observers in the persons of Com. Pst. Peter Ezenwegbu, Mr. Gabriel Emmanuel, Engr. Oliver Uzochukwu and Mr. Cliff Esione.

Hon Mmadubuko Christian praised the outgoing Mr. Gabriel Chibueze led ASMPDA executives, saying they have done extremely well.

Speaking to anaedoonline.ng, he said,” I can say that the past executives did very well, the tenure of the past executives expired a year and a month ago but we pleaded with them to continue until we have scheduled another election. I also commend the organizers of today’s election for the peaceful outcome”.


Anaedoonline.com also spoke to the outgoing Chairman, Mr. Gabriel Chibueze who expressed happiness at the final outcome of the election.

“I am so happy that finally, I will hand over today after nine years and a month. Despite several rescheduling and outright cancellations of the ASMPDA election as a result of issues arising from zoning which is not part of the market constitution. The zoning in the constitution is between indigenes and non-indigenes of Nnewi and not between indigenes of Nnewi .”

Apart from Mr. Dennis Ikegwuonu who was elected Chairman unopposed as a result of the absence of the opposition candidates, other executives were also elected unopposed, they are ;

In his closing remark, the Anambra State Commissioner for Trade and Commerce, Hon Mmadubuko Christian, admonished the newly elected executives, advising them to desist from abusing their office and the trust reposed in them by the people who elected them, warning that anyone caught in the act will be severely dealt with.

He also urged them to use their offices to restore peace and harmony in the market and promptly pay the market revenue to the government.
