Lagos Airport is Nigeria’s Busiest Airport – Reports

According to the latest details of Nigeria Aviation Report released by Obinna Osigwe, the Executive Director of Freshminds Associates, a Lagos based firm that specializes in business development and consultancy, Lagos Airport was the busiest Airport In Nigeria for year 2018.

The report covered the movement of passengers for both domestic and international flights across the 31 airports in Nigeria.

In 2018, a total number of 12,791,639 passengers passed through Nigeria airports for both arrival and departure, which was 23.19% increase from the 10,383,453 passengers recorded in 2017.

The report showed that Lagos airport is the busiest which handled 2,138,146 passengers, Abuja airport 1,931,295 passengers which represent 33.19%% and 30.2% of the entire domestic passenger movement respectively. Other busy airports include Port-Harcourt 8.39%, Owerri 3.99%, Kano 3.18%, Enugu 2.67%, the remaining 25 airports handled 18.38% of the traffic.

For international flights, a total of 4,438,799 flights were recorded in 2018, which represented 9.42% increase from 4,056,717 recorded in 2017. Further insights revealed that 68.61% of air traffic went through Lagos airport, Abuja airport took 22.89%, while the remaining 8.5% was shared by other airports.
