To Celebrate His 25th Wedding Anniversary, CEO Sunny Vespa and Sunchi Farms Didn’t Throw a Party, See What He Did!

25 years ago, chief Sunday Ezeobiora (Okpata Ozuo-ora), the CEO of Sunny Vespa and Sunchi Farms and his lovely wife, Mrs. Chineyere Ezeobiora, got married.

As part of the activities to mark Chief and Mrs. Sunday Ezeobiora’s 25 years wedding Anniversary, the committee of friends of Chief Sunday Ezeobiora are sponsoring the payment of hospital bills of indigent patients at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital (NAUTH), Nnewi Anambra state. The committee of friends has so far, paid the debt of Nine hundred thousand Naira (N900, 000), which is the medical bills of five indigent patients at the hospital.

Chief Sunday Ezeobiora and members of his committee of friends, who visited NAUTH today, May 8th, 2019, were welcomed by the Chief Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC), Dr. Joseph Ugboaja in the absence of the Chief medical director of NAUTH.

Dr. Joseph who welcomed them on behalf of the CMD and the entire board expressed surprise at the fact that someone was paying hospital bills as part of his wedding anniversary celebration.
He said, “People pay patients bills during Christmas, Easter, Birthdays but this is the first time we are seeing that of a wedding Anniversary”.

Dr. Joseph also said that the management is grateful to Chief Sunday and his Committee friends while hoping that they will do more to support the hospital. He urged them to look into the children section, especially the incubation section where premature babies are being kept; he said a lot of the babies have many unpaid medical bills.

Bar Jideofor Ezeofor, the chairman of the committee of friends spoke on behalf of the Committee of friends; he said that when the Committee of friends were planning a Newspaper publication for Chief Sunday and his wife in celebration of his 25th wedding anniversary, they met Chief Sunday to intimate him of their plans, he (Chief Sunday) was of the opinion that the money should rather be used to offset hospital bills.

He said, “Even though it was a new thing for us, all our friends supported it and made contributions towards it. It is a beautiful thing to do and I believe when other people hear about it , they will be encouraged to do something similar in other to give people hope.”

Speaking during the visit, chief Sunday said that as a former vice chairman of the chaplaincy at NAUTH, he has a firsthand experience of what some of the patients go through which is why he asked his friends to do this project with him instead of a congratulatory newspaper publication.

He said, “there was a time someone asked me for N100 in this hospital and I gave the person N1000, the person ran away to hide, the person thought I made a mistake. This shows the level of distress in our community”. He urged the church to do more to help those in the hospital.

Chief Sunday and his Committee friends, in the company of the NAUTH Staff which includes CMAC, Dr. Joseph Ugboaja, Deputy CMAC Dr. Ezejiofor Ogochukwu, the Director Medical Social Services NAUTH Mrs. Ebeledike.A.O., and the Auditor of NAUTH Mrs. Anoliefo Ifeyinwa went around the hospital to meet the patients whose bills were paid.

The patients who benefitted from the philanthropy include Ibeh Chidozie from the children’s ward, Ndomuanya Stella from the female ward with folder No 201020, Chikwendu Matthew with folder No 236936, Iwu Gladys with folder No 240094, Okoro Fabian with folder No. 232244.

Some Members of the committee of friends who were present at NAUTH include Barr. Jideofor Ezeofor, Chief Chika Emenike(CEO Tummy Tummy Foods), Hon Peter Emma Onwuka, Engrs. Mrs. Umeozulu, Mr. Onyinye Agochukwu, Austin Manuel Jideofor(CEO Nue-Tech), Chief Etoniru, Mr. Chidi Ezeobiora.

The group will also be visiting the Orthopedic hospital in Enugu to also pay the bills of some indigent patients in the hospital.
