Below is his Facebook post ;

#Earlier today, at the floor of the House of Representatives, I drew the attention of the Nation on 100 Foot Road Erosion, Nnewi.

My Motion today :

Matter of Urgent Public Importance on Ecological Threat of Nkwo-Edo Market, The Industrial /Commercial Hub of Anambra State :

#The House :

#Notes: Nnewi the Industrial/Commercial Hub of Anambra State and Nigeria is under serious ecological threat occasioned by heavy gully erosion which has cut off the major entrance to the market through the Hundred Foot Road (100ft Road) Nnewi.

#Further Notes: That we have presented this gully site along with others in our earlier motion on this floor and went further to proactively engage Engineers from both Ministry of Environment ‘s Erosion Control Department and Ecological Fund Office to study, design and obtain an estimate for the containment of impending threat to properties.

#Considering that We have engaged several means including Channel Television Documentary to ensure that appropriate action was taken to avoid this emergency situation which is worsening with each rainfall and we are still in the month of May, not to imagine what will happen all through to October if action is not taken now.

#Consider That Houses and other properties are already caving into the gully and residents /businesses are moving out. Nnewi is a very important Industrial/Commercial hub in Nigeria, contributing significantly to our national economy through her tax contribution which is evident in FIRS records.

#The House Resolve to :

(i) Urge the Federal Government of Nigeria, through the Ecological Fund Office, to immediately mobilize their Engineers to site to save further loss of lives and properties.

(ii) Urge NEMA to as a matter of urgency to the provide needed support to those whose shelter and businesses have been disrupted.

(iii ) Mandate the joint Committees on Environment, Ecological Fund, and NEMA to ensure Compliance.

……………………………………………………

I am not sleeping on this issue, rather, reaching everyone and institutions that matter as it concerns this erosion.

Lives and properties are under threat and this is not the time for politics, but time for our people irrespective of one’s political party, to stand united so that we can get this resolve.

While we wait for Federal Govt, I wish to appeal to tiers of government to unite towards intervening on these lives and economic threatening erosion site .
