Central School Ekwulobia Emerges As Winners Of The Under-Thirteen Academical Championship

Central School Ekwulobia has emerged winners of the Under-thirteen Academical Championship organized by the Anambra State Government for all the primary schools across the state.

The Central School Ekwulobia team lifted the trophy after beating Eri Primary school, Aguleri three goals to one at St Mary’s High School football pitch Ifitedunu.

The final match which ended three goals to one in favor of Ekwulobia Central school recorded over five hundred persons in attendance who came from across the state to watch the game.

Speaking after the match, Dr Paschal Agbodike, Chairman House Committee on Sports, representing Ihiala2 Constituency, while congratulating the winners expressed satisfaction with the performance of the teams which he described as incredible. And also commended the State Government for reviving sports in the State through the Anambra State Sports Development Commission.

Sunday Igwebike and Onyedika Okeke of Central School Ekwulobia who both scored the goals that led to their victory, had thanked the state government for organizing the tournament and expressed hope that such competition would offer them the opportunity to exhibit their talents in football.

Central School Ekwulobia is under the management of the Cathedral church of St John’s, Anglican communion Aguata Diocese.

The kick-off of the match was performed by the Commissioner for Basic Education, Professor Kate Omenugha, accompanied by the Chairman, Anambra State Sports Development Commission, Mr Tony Oli.

Other dignitaries that graced the event include the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Anambra Broadcasting Service, Chief Uche Nworah, other top government functionaries and captains of industry.
