Anambra Readies For NEWMAP-Additional Financing
Governor of Anambra State has approved N500 Million counterpart Funding for the NEWMAP project.
Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano in furtherance of his commitment towards Erosion Eradication and management in Anambra State has approved N500M as NEWMAP Project counterpart Funding.
This was made known by the NEWMAP Project Coordinator, Mr Micheal Ivenso at the State Government House, when he expressed his gratitude to the visionary leadership of the State Governor towards ensuring the state’s participation in the NEWMAP Additional Financing and for approving the release of counterpart funding to the tune of N500 million Naira to enable the project access to the World Bank funding.

Ivenso also revealed that the state government has commenced the process of creating a successor agency for NEWMAP as part of the requirement for the state’s participation in the NEWMAP-AF.
All these recent moves by the Anambra State Government shows its commitment to their part which will ensure the sustainability of the investments made by the Obiano administration towards erosion control and management.
