Ekwulobia Leaders Halt The Plans Of Hausa Community

The leadership of the Umuchi Development Union has terminated the efforts of some suspected Muslims who allegedly procured a land along Isuofia road in Ekwulobia to build a mosque.

According to reports, anaedoonline.ng exclusively gathered that an indigene of Omeke quarter of Umuchi (name withheld) recently released his land, near Best Albino Filling station in Ekwulobia, to some Hausa men at the rent per annum.

It was reported that the Hausa buyers deceived the owner of the land by telling him that the land would be used for scraps business.

However, after the deal has been struck, news filtered into the town that the Hausa Community with the help of an Alhaji resident within Anambra state have procured a piece of land in Ekwulobia for purpose of erecting a place of worship.

Consequent upon the development, the leadership of Umuchi Development Union swung into action with the aim of unraveling the truth of the matter.

According to reports, the villagers had last weekend rallied round the sum of money paid by the ‘strange tenants’ and refunded them accordingly through the landlord who claimed that he has spent the money paid to him.

The fear of Fulani herdsmen and their attendant terrorist activities have forced many communities in the Southeastern part of Nigeria to be conscious of strangers, especially those coming outside Igbo land to acquire land.

It was gathered that the said piece of land was then placed under the watch of the Umuchi Development Union, pending when other issues pertaining to the case is finally resolved.
