Former governor of Anambra State and the PDP Vice Presidential candidate Mr. Peter Obi, has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to provide the server used for Presidential election for the interest of sustainability of Nigeria democracy.

This is following the ongoing 2019 Presidential election tribunal sitting in Abuja, between the incumbent President, President Mohammadu Buhari of the All Progressive Congress APC and Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the opposition People Democratic Party (PDP).

Mr. Obi who gave the warning Sunday in Atani in Ogbaru council area of Anambra State, when he led Peoples Democratic Party to a special Thanksgiving victory service to appreciate God for His mercies, goodness and favour during the just concluded general elections particular in Anambra, said that INEC must provide the server they used for the election, because they know what they used during the election, adding that they used the server for the election and must provide it.

The victory thanksgiving Church service which was held at Central School Atani, Ogbaru LGA was in honour of Senator Princess Stella Odua; Hon. Chukwuka Onyema House of Reps Abuja,  Hon. Noble Igwe Ogbaru 1 and Hon. Somto Udeze Ogbaru 11, both winners of Anambra state House of Assembly.

Speaking further at the event, Mr Obi said that thanksgiving is important as there is a need for everyone to be faithful to God adding that without God it would have been impossible for PDP to achieve anything in the election.

He said, “the election has come and gone and now is the reality. We have to thank God Almighty for, without Him, we would not have succeeded in the election. Whenever we have the opportunity we should show gratitude to God. We thank God for the elected representatives, those that are giving thanksgiving today and all of us.

“Thanksgiving is important and we are here to show our appreciation to God for what he did for us. We also show our appreciation to all the people who help made it possible for us to succeed, we must do something that they will appreciate.”

Obi charged the newly elected lawmakers to consider the interest of the masses first and use public money for the public good.

His words: “You are nearer to the people. There is no road in Ogbaru and so many areas need to be revived again. There is a lot of work to be done in Ogbaru constituency.

“So many people are hungry, so many things are happening to Nigeria. Let those who are in power today use public money for the public good. Our children are not working because there is no job. People are not working while some are working and suffering. We have to know that it is time to work as we are nearer to the people.”

In his sermon, Bishop of Ogbaru Anglican Communion, Right Reverend Prosper Amah lauded the people for recognising God by setting aside the day to appreciate His mercy and love.

Bishop Amah said that thanksgiving is a necessity describing it as an act of appreciation and gratitude for God’s divine favour.
