Police sergeant allegedly attempts suicide over heartbreak

A Police Sergeant attached to the Akwaete Police Division, in Abia State, identified just as Chukwudi, has reportedly attempted suicide.

According to some eyewitnesses, the police Sergent allegedly attempted Suicide after his girlfriend dumpef him for another person.

Some other persons who spoke to anaedoonline.ng were of the opinion that he could have suffered depression or frustration over some unknown circumstances .

Meanwhile, it was gathered that the Police Officer didn’t die as he was saved by the Division Police Officer after one Chinyere Gift , raised alarm.

Sources from the area have it that the DPO who met him dangling on the tree , used a knife to cut off the rope that Sergeant Chukwudi used to hang himself.

The DPO and other personnel that joined to bring their colleague down from the tree rushed him to the hospital where he was said stabilized by the Medical Team at the hospital.

Unconfirmed report has it that the affected community leaders have barred police from the scene of the incident until a ritual was performed to appease the gods of the land according to their tradition.

It was also gathered that the State Commissioner of Police, Ene Okon confirmed the incident in a telephone conversation

CP Okon went further to disclose that the said Police Officer has been taken into custody for observation, adding that necessary actions would soon be taken.
