Shocker: How I Got ”Infected” With Sickle Cell Disorder – Hon. Charles Chukwuma

A former Member of Anambra State House of Assembly (6th Assembly) that represented Anaocha 11 constituency, Hon. Charles Chukwuma Ezeani shared the experience he had while living with members of his family that had Sickle Cell Disorder.

Hon Charles Chukwuma Ezeani, while revealing that he was the person that sponsored a Sickle Cell Law on the floor of the house also shared his experience while living with some members of his family who lived and died with Sickle Cell Disorder.

He shared his experience at Nnamdi Azikiwe Teaching Hospital, Nani, yesterday, 19th June 2019, being the World Sickle Cell Day.

In an exclusive interview with Anaedoonline.com, Hon. Ezeani explained  how he was ”infected’’ with Sickle Cell Disorder by Association.

He said, “when I was young, I lived with a family that was living with Sickle Cell Anemia and in my presence, too many of them died. So by association , I was ”infected” with the disease and I vowed that when God gives me an opportunity, I will fight it to a standstill.”

”So when I was elected as a member in Anambra State of Assembly, I felt that God has given me the opportunity to fight the cause and by the grace of God, the 6th Assembly members who were present that day, gave their full support for it to see the light of the day.’’

He also mentioned how he parted ways with six women due to genotype incompatibility during his search for a life partner. Hon. Ezeani advised that carriers should not in any way get married to one another carrier to the detriment of unborn children. He added as well that there are lot of young ones that are very compatible who can marry each other.

Hon Chukwuma Ezeani concluded that love is no longer blind, so intending couples should know the medical status of each other before getting married.
