YALI Anambra State Successfully Hosted Impact Project (Photos)

The Impact Project, which held on 29th June 2019 in Kenneth Dike Library’s Auditorium at Awka, Anambra State capital is a flagship mentorship program for youths in business, civic and public sector tracks sponsored by the US embassy, executed by the Mandela Washington Alumni Association of Nigeria in Conjunction with Young Africa’s Leaders Initiative (YALI) Anambra State under the leadership and coordination of Mr. Anene Nonso Stanley.

This program brought together in one platform, many youths numbering over a thousand, both from within and outside Anambra State who came to acquire new knowledge or update the knowledge available in their different areas or sectors of engagements ranging from business, leadership, public service, volunteering engagement and so on.

The speakers in the program are fire-brand youths who have proven records of excellence in their respective calling.

Honorable Nonso Okafor (Smart), a member representing the Nnewi North Constituency in Anambra State House of Assembly, an entrepreneur and the first Mandela Washington fellow from Nigeria.
This new emerging strong political voice in the State spoke on the topic ” developing the leader within” after which his presentation was greeted with an ovation from the participants.

The Other speakers in the program includes:

Pascal Okeke, a farmer, a software developer and startup community builder who educated the youths on storytelling in business, using digital tools.

Chioma Peace Udoh, a pharmacist and also a Mandela Washington fellow spoke on the topic “Systems for establishing profit and non-profit ventures” where she elaborated the best ways to pitch a business idea in Nigerian system and Western world.

Mrs. Udegboka Nkechi Tessie, also a Mandela Washington fellow, spoke on “Volunteering: An open door to skill development and opportunities” the traditional approach to volunteering and the numerous benefits attached to volunteering.

Pharm. Mrs. Ifeoma Umeh, a Lecturer in UNIZIK spoke on “The Art of Grant Writing”.

Mrs. Uchenna Onwuamaegbu-Ugwu, a psychologist, a Mandela Washington fellow and also a Barack Obama fellow, spoke on the topic Tips for applying for global Opportunity and Business funding.

The ladies among the speakers thrilled the participants with their banks of knowledge in the respective topics they treated.

The program also featured a panel session where the participants had the opportunity to have participatory interaction with the speakers.

After the program, Anaedoonline.com had opportunity to interact with the two lead conveners of the program, Nonso Anene, who is also the president of YALI in Anambra State and Chioma Udoh, a Mandela Washington fellow, currently the Director of Operations of Bichan Pharmaceuticals Ltd, a business development lead, she also participates in the startup Nigeria incubator Program.

Mr. Nonso Anene is the manager, Enyienu Hospital Ogidi, a popular mission hospital in Ogidi Anambra State, He is also the Assistant Secretary, National Youth Council of Nigeria, Anambra State chapter.

In addition to that, he is among the two youths that were selected to represent Anambra State in the just concluded Yali Network Nigeria Summit 2019 with the theme “PARADIGM SHIFT, Youth Inclusion in Government Polices for sustainable development” held on 24th and 25th June at CBN international training institute, Maitama, Abuja.

During an interview with Anaedoonline.com, Nonso highlighted the motivation behind his success and in taking up the leadership of YALI and achieving results despite it being a Non-profit organization, in his words “I am happy I associated with YALI. So far, I have been opportune to meet with many wonderful African leaders through the network of Young African Leaders Initiative YALI.”

“The most important thing is that we have excellent leaders and people in the network and they inspire me”.

Nonso further shared his volunteering experience and urged Anambra youths to identify with YALI Anambra and any other groups.
