Nnewi: Governor Obiano Plans to Remodel Nwafor Orizu Roadabout (Photos)
As part of his administration’s plan to improve traffic and aesthetics of roads in Anambra State, the Executive Governor of Anambra State, His Excellency, Chief Dr. Willie Obiano, has directed that the Nwafor-Orizu roundabout Nnewi be remodelled.
According to reports made available to Anaedoonline.com, the design’s drawings and remodelling details of Nwafor Orizu roundabout are currently in its final stages and will be set for Governor’s approval soon and contract awarded.
It will be recalled that earlier this year, Anaedoonline.com published an article titled “A CALL TO REMODEL NWAFOR ORIZU ROUNDABOUT IN NNEWI” which was targeted at drawing the attention of the Anambra State Government into remodelling the Roundabout into a world-class piece of architecture, with beautifications and lights to improve the aesthetics of the area.

The article emphasized that the presence of shopping centres and occupation of nearby roads and footpaths often lead to massive traffic mayhem before or after the Nwafor Orizu Roundabout, while traffic rules are violated with impunity, and those passing through the area suffer the wrath of violators.
It highlighted that the aesthetics of the Roundabout have been lost, raising the need to remodel, restructure and renovate the roundabout, in other to create more space for vehicular movement, reduce the traffic gridlock and the number of accidents around the roundabout.
Reacting to the call through his social media handle, the Anambra State Commissioner for Housing, Hon. Arc. Michael M. Okonkwo have assured that His Excellency Chief (Dr.) Willie M. Obiano, has directed that the Nwafor Orizu Roundabout, Nnewi, as well as other roundabouts across the State be remodeled to improve traffic and aesthetics as well as celebrate the culture of the communities where these roundabouts are located, respectively, as was done at DMGS Roundabout, Onitsha.
According to him, the design’s drawings and remodeling details are currently in the works to implement the Governor’s directive in this regard.
