According to Mr. Echono, topmost among its challenges, is the alleged encroachment and vandalization of facilities belonging to the Federal Government by indigenes of host states and communities adding that this has threatened the security and lives of students and properties of the institution leading to the governing council of the institution to seek the intervention of the federal government.

Mr. Echono noted that the federal government is worried about the continuous threats to its institutions in some states, and is no longer prepared to fold its arms and do nothing about the destruction done to its properties.
