Ekwulobia Traders Call For Intervention On Their Roads And On Poor EEDC Power Supply (Photos)

Bad roads pose a big challenge to most communities in Anambra State and Ekwulobia is not left out.

In a recent interview with the Mr. Nnopu Eberechukwu, the Chairman of ETAWA, he narrated the immediate problems facing the traders of the town.

“We are in rainy season and most of the roads leading to the main market in Ekwulobia are in bad shape” Nnopu stated.

“Though I know the government might have a challenge in working on them now because of the rainy season, I need to state that the intervention of the government is needed urgently on this issue” he continued.

Mr. Nnopu disclosed that one of the roads was recently repaired by the road maintenance agency, but there are many roads leading to the major community (Eke) market and there is need that they be repaired for smooth and effective running of business within the town.

He also revealed that an example is a road leading to the Ekwulobia general hospital from the market, which according to him, has been awarded but not yet completed.

He also lamented on poor electricity supply.

He narrated that poor electricity supply is really affecting the businesses in the town.

“Traders cannot preserve their perishable goods without electricity, and that results to so many damages. Even the growing entrepreneurs in the town need electricity to upgrade their handworks” He added.

Furthermore, Mr. Nnopu stated that they also need water boreholes in the market.

He explained that there is only one public borehole in the whole of Ekwulobia.

“Ekwulobia is not a riverline area and drilling water here is very costly,
the only borehole here was drilled by Hon. Eucharia Azodo when she was in the federal house of representatives and it is located inside the St Joseph church.” he said.
