Governor Ikpeazu Hosts Africa-Korea Development Association Delegation (Photos)

  • Leader of Delegation Says The Group Intends To Facilitate Educational, Cultural And Economic Exchanges In Abia State

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu yesterday the 19th of August 2019 received a delegation from the Africa-Korea Development Association AKEDA, at the Governor’s lodge in Aba.

During the visit, Governor Ikpeazu made it clear to his visitors that his administration will at all times welcome initiatives and partnerships with external agencies that can be of benefit to the people of Abia State.

Governor Ikpeazu also told the group that Abia State is a home for business, considering the large catchment population of willing and able entrepreneurs in any area of business.

The leader of the delegation and Secretary General of AKEDA, Mr. Siwoo Chung thanked the Governor for granting them audience at a short notice and also announced that they are interested in establishing fruitful business relationships with the business community in Abia State.

Throwing more light on AKEDA, Mr. Siwoo told the Governor that AKEDA is a private sector membership association with over 100 leading conglomerates in various sectors of the Korean economy, dedicated towards  strengthening economic development between Korea and African countries.

Explaining further, he said that AKEDA is present in 18 African countries and are interested in areas like Power, new city development, tourism, construction, solid minerals, pharmaceuticals, plastic recycling, leather products recycling, etc.

”We are interested in facilitating economic, educational and cultural exchanges that will promote the training of Abia youths in critical areas that can help them towards self reliance” he said.


He revealed that they chose Abia as their first port of call in Nigeria owing to the prominence the State enjoys in the area of promotion of businesses in Nigeria.

Visibly elated Ikpeazu thanked the delegation for their visit and urged them to feel free to make any inquiries about business opportunities in the state. He particularly thanked the Chairman of the Nigerian branch of the Association, Hon Yuccee Uwah who is an indigene of Abia state, for playing a key role in building this new partnership, hailing him for putting his home state, first.
