FRSC: Road Safety Is The Responsibility Of Everybody – Anigbo

Public Relation Officer of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Anambra sector, Pascal Anigbo has urged citizens, especially the youth to always be mindful of their safety. Emphasizing that road safety is the responsibility of everybody and not just for the FRSC.

Anigbo made this comment at the inauguration of the executives of National Association of University Students (NAUS) at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), Igbariam Campus.

According to him, “we are all aware of the nature of the roads; the government of Anambra State is working day and night to make sure that our roads are fixed”. He called on the motorist to ensure that their vehicles are maintained.

“Before embarking on a journey, make sure your vehicles are okay, avoid over speeding. The speed limiting device was made available by the government so as to regulate our speed. If these directives are obeyed accidents related to over speeding will reduce”.

The FRSC spokesperson regretted saying “Majority of the (road crashes) accident recording on the roads according to findings involves the youth between the ages of 16-26, and the major cause are over speeding.

On drunk driving, he said “avoid the use of drug and alcohol before or while driving. Speaking on road safety tips, the FRSC PRO outlined three factors that have been discovered to be responsible for road crashes, mechanical factors, were by vehicles are not maintained: environmental factor which involves the weather conditions like rainfall, sun and so on: Human factor, which is the major cause of road crashes with over 90% of which is centered on once inability to obey traffic rules and regulations, the ability to see that the mechanical and environmental factors are checkmated.
