The newly elected executive of the National Association of University Students (NAUS) has been officially sworn into office.

The event which was held at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU) Igbariam campus had in attendance University students from the different parts of the federation. The inauguration marks the 3rd set of executive of NAUS.

Out-going senate president of NAUS, Falola Ahmed Olasunkanmi in his address encouraged the new executive to live up to expectations through upholding the legacy of the founding fathers of NAUS who sacrificed a lot.

In his words, “You will never find it easy. May your road be rough and tough because it is only a rough sea that makes a skillful sailor. Take this organization to the next level. Let it be the envy of other organization”.


Newly elected president NAUS, Ije-Felix in his address after the inauguration expressed gratitude to the association for finding him worthy to pilot the affairs of the association.
In his words, “What we hope to do is to bring a better picture of our students in the university sector. We are going to have a new face of student union by God’s grace. I have no doubt in my mind that we are going to succeed because I have competent executive. We are open for constructive criticism. We will not disappoint this trust imposed on us.

NAUS started with the coming together of National Association of Nigerian University Students (NANUS) and Nigerian University Students Association (NUSA) after a stakeholders meeting in Abuja on the advice of the then Senior Special Assistant (SSA) Youth and Students Affairs to President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and former NANS President comrade Imagwe Jude Gabriel. The meeting was chaired by comrade Abbah JM Abbah Special Assistant (SA) Special Duties and Field Matters in the office of SSA Youth and Students Affairs in 2014.

There it was agreed after deliberation to hold a unity convention and resolution was passed for it to hold at Anambra State University, Uli in January 2015 which saw the emergence of the pioneer National Executive Council led by comrade Adekunle Success as National President.
