Anambra Assembly Confirms TC Chairmen/Members

The 7th Assembly of the Anambra State House Assembly has screened and confirmed the Transition Committee (TC) Chairmen and its members of the 21 Local Government Areas of the state. Governor of Anambra State Willie Obiano in a letter to the lawmakers attached and submitted their names.

The system for the Transition was according to the relevant provisions of Anambra State laws and that of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as regards the local government system which allows a State Governor to submit the names of those he wish to be voted into the Local Government offices to the State Assembly for considerations and election into Transition Council for the period of 3 months by the members of the State Assembly

The 21 TC Chairmen, who appeared at the hallowed Chambers of the State House of Assembly, were all confirmed. They include Anambra west LG, Silvester Orji Okafor, Anaocha LG, Patrick Onyejum, Awka North LG, Ferdinand Onwuje, Awka South LG, Leo Nwauba, Ayamelum LG, Ben Onyeabor, Dunukofia LG, Emeka Okonkwo, Ekwusigo LG, Austine Enendu, Idemili North LG, Asha Raphael Nnabuife,

Others are Idemili South LG, Don Onachukwu. Ihiala LG, Greg Nnebechukwu Okafor, Njikoka LG, judge Edozie, Nnewi North LG, Chukwudi Oriezu, Nnewi South LG, Chieloka Okoye, Ogbaru LG, Arinze Omuogh, Onitsha North LG, Patrick Mba, Onitsha South, Asoanye Emeke, Orumba North LG, Obinna Ikwetou, Orumba South LG, Onyedu Raymond, Oyi LG, Nwaduokwu Nnamdi,

Speaker Anambra State house of assembly, Uche Okafor charged the newly confirmed TC Chairmen/members to key into Obiano’s achievement and to painstakingly go through the exercises aimed at fostering good governance across the local government areas in the state

Okafor after their confirmation tasked them to sue for peace in their respective council areas and urged them to monitor strictly all developmental projects of the Obiano administration especially the revolving 20 Million Naira Community Choose Your Project Initiative to ensure effective utilization of the fund by the communities knowing fully well that LG is the third tier of government designed to address the need of the people at grassroots, He further enjoined them to initiate programs and projects that would have direct bearing on the lives of the rural dwellers.

The speaker on behalf of the 7th Assembly congratulated them and wished them well also charged them to show competence and total commitment in the discharge of their duties and create enabling environment for workers to operate optimally and shun acts capable of retarding the progress of the state and urged them to deploy diverse means of accommodating everybody in the affairs of their respective local government areas.

Member representing Oyi constituency, Charles Chinedu Obimma on his part in an interview urged the newly elected TC Chairmen/members to synergize with the town unions and the entire community. They are closer to the people and should be a better position to discuss and get feedbacks which should be communicated to both the executive and the legislatures. They use their position more effectively in getting information from the grass root. They should justify their election from Obiano
