Woman Loses Baby To A Child Trafficker Over N200 Levy

A woman who is simply identified as Salome while fighting with a revenue collector over N200 levy on Tuesday lost her one-year-old baby to a suspected trafficker while the fight lasted.

News gathered stated that the woman who is a petty trader, sells foodstuff in Eke-Onuwa Market in Owerri Municipal Council engaged in the fight when the revenue collector who was identified as Sunday asked her for N200 being an amount payable for the space she was occupying to sell.

Salome’s refusal to pay the said levy led to her starting a fight with the revenue collector. It was gathered that when the fight was about to begin, she handed her baby over to an unknown person who later made away with the baby and she only noticed the absence of the unknown person after the fight.

Traders immediately began a swift search for the baby but nothing was gotten.

It was said that she was running heater shelter in the market asking passersby if they had seen a man with a baby boy but no one was able to either identify the man or acknowledge his way about.
