Anambra Transport Ministry Tackle Traffic Congestion In Awka

Anambra state government in intensifying efforts to tackle and reduce traffic congestion in the state has initiated more measures to make the hold-up especially this ember month minimized in Awka the state capital and other parts of the state.

The Commissioner for Transportation, Dr Christian Mmadubuko made this known when he embarked on the decongestion of Eke Awka market through Ziks avenue, to Amawbia with the officials of Anambra State Traffic Agency aimed at ensuring free movement of traffic around the state.


Mmadubuko who frowned at the rate of road congestion in some parts of the state especially in Awka. regretted that persistent street trading has continued to cause a traffic jam in the market and stated that they embark on the decongestion weekly.

According to him ”Government mapped out a designated place for trading and urged traders to make use of the market space so as not to expose themselves to danger and as well avoid giving others the pain of wasting time on gridlocks, warning that government will no longer tolerate any violation of the law.

Speaking to journalists, a trader in the market, Miss Chidimma Igwe, extolled the Commissioner for embarking on the decongestion, stating that it will ease the pain and hardship witnessed in the market.
