Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s rumored return to Spain has been revealed to be a sponsorship deal and fans are not happy about it.
Ibrahimovic’s post on his social media handle misled fans about a move to Spain in January. The Swedish striker could be leaving MLS side LA Galaxy when his contract expires in December. It was later understood the 37-year-old was promoting a betting site on his Instagram
The LA Galaxy striker’s contract with the MLS club will expire in December and a return to La Liga was on the cards.
The Swede posted a video clip on Instagram which hinted his move to Spain: “Hola Espana, guess what? I’m coming back.”
The post went viral as fans were trying to figure out which La Liga side Ibrahimovic would join but it turned out to simply be a marketing stunt to promote a betting site.

Ibrahimovic then posted another clip on social media today explaining the original video. “You’re welcome Spain,” Ibrahimovic says. “Finally Bethard is live and we welcome all the Spanish players to our site.”
Fans were furious with the revelation, with one simply calling him a ‘troll’. “Zlatan scammed the whole football world,” another said “Don’t forget that betting is ruining so many families,” some discouraged Ibrahimovoic’s idea of promoting a betting site.
“You always try to show off, being so brave.. but on these occasions is when you should take a step forward and fight against this drug. “Barking dogs never bite.”
