Family members and villagers were thrown into confusion yesterday 12th November following the death of three members of a family in Umuewi Village in Ihebinowere Okwudor community in Njaba council area of Imo State.

The corpses of the grandfather, Moses Oguebuka and two of his grandchildren, were discovered in the family’s apartment.

It was gathered from eyewitnesses that their corpses were discovered when one of the man’s mistresses came to his house and met the house locked in the afternoon.

It was learned that after knocking several times and his phone ringing repeatedly without any answer, the woman opened one of the windows and saw three lifeless bodies in the room.

The woman, whose name was not given, was said to have raised the alarm that attracted villagers, who forced open the house.

Upon entering the room, the neighbors discovered that all three occupants were lying on the floor with foamy substances and blood on their mouths.

An eyewitness and vigilante operative, Uzor Akachukwu said the victims most likely died of food poisoning, adding that the incident shocked the villagers.

Akachukwu stated, “We were called upon this morning that no one from the Oguebuka family had come out of their house. We knew this was unusual because his grandchildren usually come out early to prepare for school. They are pupils of St. Barnabas Primary School Okwudor.

“So, the villagers were confused and after several failed attempts at calling them, we broke down the door and when we entered the house, we saw the three of them lying on the floor with foamy substances and blood coming out of their mouths, which fueled the suspicion of food poisoning”.
