The Enugu State Police Command On Tuesday paraded 36 suspected criminals for their alleged involvement in various criminal activities in the state.
Parading the suspects before newsmen at the State Police Headquarters, the Inspector General of Police, IGP Ahmed Abdur-Rahman said that they were involved in such illegal activities as armed robbery, cultism, kidnapping, rape and illegal arms possession.
He noted that the latest achievements were made possible through the Intelligence Led Policing measures put in place by the Command as well as the Operation Puff Adder.
Among those paraded were a self acclaimed pastor, Sunday Egbo, who allegedly raped a lady identified as Ukwueze Ifebuche Blessing.
According to Abdur-Rahman, Egbo, founder of Christ Mercy Ministry Ajuona Obukpa Nsukka in Enugu State had instructed his victim to come along with her sick little brother’s picture for prayers.
” On arrival, the pastor took her to his house and left with the pretence to go and bring other people who were supposed to come for the programme but returned at about 2300 hrs”
He further explained that Egbo dragged her to his room, brought out a magic Stone and threatened to kill her if she raised an alarm.

”He ordered her to remove her cloths , she refused and the pastor slapped her and forcefully tore her cloths and raped her” he said.
He further explained that the victim struggled and ran naked to the door and shouted which attracted neighbours who invited the police and got the pastor arrested.
Among the items recovered from the suspects were firearm accessories, Barrel Pipes, piles of transmission Armoured cables, one filling machine, one short iron axe and one cutting machine.
Other items recovered were: Piles of MTN cable, one Lorry vehicle, hand sets, charms, one Tricycle and Seven Inverter Batteries.
Abdur-Rahman called on members of the public not to relent in providing useful Information to the police as that will help ensure that the state is completely rid of criminal elements.

He maintained that the Police gave not lost site of respect for human rights and the rule of law while striving towards reducing crime in the state.
”I want to warn all criminals who think the state is a haven for their activities to either desist from such activities or leave the state because we are determined to ensur thhe said.
