The apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, on Sunday warned those trying to stampede the present executive of the organisation to desist from their pranks.

It regretted that the mischief makers were “going about claiming that the national election of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo would hold in January, 2020” and warned them to desist from such propaganda.

The deputy National Publicity Secretary of the organisation, Chuks Ibegbu, in a statement, noted that the tenure of the Nnia Nwodo-led executive would end in January 2021 and not 2020.

He accused “desperadoes” and those who wish to use the office for personal gains as propagating the rumour.”

Ibegbu, however, warned those he described as ‘desperadoes’ trying to cause confusion over the matter to be careful.

He noted that for now the Nwodo-led regime was trying to reposition Ndigbo within the Nigerian polity.

The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, had on Saturday predicted that Chief Nnia Nwodo would cease to be the president-general of Ohanaeze Ndigbo before December 31.
