Zoning of the next governorship seat to Anambra South Senatorial District formed the crux of the matter at the end of year get together of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Anambra Chapter.

The program which took place at Nanka, Orumba South Council Area, attracted some traditional rulers, elder statesmen, community leaders, traders, Ndi Anambra, friends and well wishers.

The forum which was to relay the remarkable success, visions and achievements of Ohanaeze, Anambra State Chapter and those recorded in collaboration with the Anambra Association Of Town Unions, traditional rulers, Elders Forum, Trade Unions and other stakeholders.

Addressing the gathering, the State President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Damian Okeke-Ogene said with the victory of Governor Willie Obiano in the November 2017 governorship election, the State will shift the Govermorship position to Anambra South, urging all stakeholders to back a peaceful shift of power from Anambra North Senatorial District to South come 2021.

Chief Okeke-Ogene equally appealed to all political parties who will participate in the elections to choose their candidates and flag bearers from Anambra South to further consolidate the gains of the zoning formula as a permanent policy in Anambra political system.

He commended Governor Obiano’s administration for maintaining industrial harmony through regular and prompt payment of salaries, entitlements and promotion of workers’ welfare even as he said that the twenty million naira community choose your project initiative programm and stipends paid to town Unions by the government have made the town Union viable fourth tiers of government.

In his remarks, a onetime governor of the state, Chief Chukwuemeka Ezife extolled Chief Okeke-Ogene for his efforts in seeing to the progress of the group, stating that he is in support of the zoning formula as it has brought peace and progress to the state.

Also speaking, the National President of Anambra State Association of Town Unions, Chief Alex Onukwue, said that their primary objective is to promote the wellbeing, peace and progress of Ndi Anambra, stating that zoning helped them to achieve success during the last election.

Also Speaking, the President General Of Ohaneze Ndigbo, in Boston, United States Of America, Chief Ike Okwesili noted that Ndigbo live around the globe and in America, the government built Obi Igbo for them in appreciation for their contribution and efforts assuring that they will continue to champion the Igbo course and identity.

Among the dignitaries that attended the program were the former Deputy Governor, Chief Emeka Sibeudu, the State President of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Women Wing, Mrs. Rose Ekwenibe, the Youth Wing and many others.
