The Ofala Nnewi 2019 was a total display of the rich heritage and culture of the people of Nnewi and also a time to see His RoyalMajesty, Igwe K.O.N Orizu III.
The Ofala Nnewi like every other year holds on the 28th and 29th Day of December.
The event this year was very colorful and had different Masquerade display.
Recall that last year, 2018 which was a pre-election year had the presence of many political figures within the state and outside. The likes of former governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, Hon. Chris Azubogu, Chief Ibeto, Chief Innocent Chukwuma(and many others) and the Executive Governor of Ebonyi state, David Umahi who was also conferred a Chieftaincy title were all present. Igwe K.O.N Orizu III had three ceremonial outings, the first two he walked around the palace compound to greet the guests and the third outing he walked outside the palace compound to greet all everyone.
The Igwe was accompanied by the three Obi’s of Umudim(Amaukwu Umudim, Obi Umudim), Obi Uruagu(Ogidi the IV), Obi Nnewichi(…), the council of chiefs and many others. The event like the previous year was attended by many within and outside.
According to some returnees, they are excited to be part of the Ofala. Some others said they were happy to the Igwe in good health.
This year’s Ofala witnessed a low turnout of crowd but it was very exciting as usual as the last day had the crowd in their numbers in the Igwe palace.
