Liverpool showcased their awesome firepower against hapless Manchester United team led by Ole Gunnar Solksjaer who seems to be leading the team to nowhere.

Manchester City were made to sweat before settling for a draw against stubborn Crystal Palace and Newcastle late minute strike was enough to put another nail in Chelsea coffin.

Judging by the performances from the top sides last weekend, there could be a few scraps for a place in the Champions League as there were few stand-out displays.

Here are five things we learned from the Premier League last weekend.

1. Liverpool EPL dominance unquestionable

Liverpool are so close to flawless and right now, it is very hard to single out a particular player in Klopp’s team for praise as everyone gives their all in the pitch. Undoubtedly, Liverpool and Manchester United game was supposed to be a titan match, it is what the history books suggest but the reds made a light walk of their opponents as they set their eyes on the EPL crown.

Virgil van Vjik opened the scoring with a thunderous header after he was poorly marked in the box. Liverpool had a goal disallowed and Martial could have levelled the scores but the Frenchman blew his chances before Salah added a second to see off the match in the dying seconds. Klopp and his team are unstoppable but would they go unbeaten in the Premier League?

2. Frankieball will lead Chelsea nowhere

Frank Lampard’s job may not be at risk but Chelsea’s Roman owner is still the man in charge at Stamford Bridge. And with this reminder, there are growing concerns that the Englishman’s rebuilding process lacks steam.

Frankieball has turned to sorrowball and Chelsea continues to suffer defeat from bottom and middle-level teams in the premiership this season. Many blamed the defeat at St James Park on Lampard’s inability to see that his major kryptonite in the team is Mason Mount and Hudson Odoi. If team selection continues to go wrong, Chelsea may not finish in the top four this season in the Premier League

3. Aguero remains a central figure in Manchester City

He delivers when you need him; that is the mark of a good striker. Although a late Fernadinho own goal forced City to settle for a draw after Aguero engineered a comeback with his brace. The Argentine took his goal tally of the season to 15 and if City must win a silverware outside the English soil this season, Aguero must have a hand in it.

4. Is Arteta the right man for Arsenal?

This question might be too late or too early depending from your perspective, but Arsenal’s draw against Sheffield United last weekend is their third draw in the EPL since Arteta was appointed. Six games, three draws and stats are already against him. Arteta slander might have to wait, but the gaffer knows that there is so much work to do if the Gunners must compete at the top level.

5. Harry Maguire is not the answer to United’s fragile defence

Whoever negotiated the deal of Harry Maguire’s transfer to Manchester United at that outrageous fee (80 million pounds) should be sent to prison before he does something similar again. The Englishman has zero awareness at the back and to compound the misery of the fans, Ole made him a captain six months after he arrived Old Trafford.

The match at Anfield revealed that the defender might not be better than Chris Smalling who was sold to AS Roma because of his arrival. The match also proved that his 170,000 pounds weekly wages might be too much as United defence crisis worsens. In fact, the whole united squad needs an overhaul but it might not happen too soon as the club now has a reputation for signing mediocre players with mouthwatering deals putting the clubs revenue at risk. Ed Woodward has every reason to drag his feet in the deal of Bueno Fernandes if Ole is still in charge at the club.
