Barely three weeks after he was declared missing, the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the Michika Local Government Area of Adamawa State, Lawan Andimi, has been reportedly killed by Boko Haram terrorists.

The news of the death Andimi whose disappearance was confirmed weeks ago by the District Head of Michika, Mr. Ngida Zakawa, was first broken to the public by journalist, Ahmed Sakilda, on the social media platform, Twitter on Tuesday.

“To break some news items can traumatize. I’m battling with one of such. Reverend Andimi, abducted by Boko Haram was executed yesterday. Rev. Andimi was a church leader, a father to his children and the community he served. My condolences go to his family,” Salkida wrote on Twitter.

A few days after he was declared missing following a foiled attack on the Michika LGA by the Boko Haram insurgents who had entered the town but were repelled by soldiers and vigilantes before they could do much damage, Andimi appeared in a video begging for him to be rescued from the clutches of his captives.

The clergyman in the video clip released by Boko Haram insurgents, asked the Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Fintiri, to rescue him stating at the time that he would be out, but if God decides not to get him out that they should look after his children.

In the short video posted on Twitter at the time by Ahmad Salkida, Andimi, while pleading with the authorities commended his captors for treating him well.

Andimi said, “I have never been discouraged because all condition that one finds himself is in the hands of God.

“God who made them take care of me and to leave my life will still work and he will touch them.

“I’m appealing to my colleagues, references particularly my President, and my Governor for my release.

“These people have been doing me well, they provide my every need, they haven’t done anything wrong to me so I believe that God who made them act in such a way to me will make all arrangements for me to leave here.

“By the grace of God, I will be together with my wife and children, If the opportunity is not granted maybe it is the will of God.

“I urge you all to be patient, don’t cry, don’t worry but thank God for everything.”
