While Nigerians from different walks of life have called on the presidency under the leadership of Muhammadu Buhari to tackle the unending rise of insecurity in the country, the president who once expressed his surprise at the latest rate of killings by Boko Haram recently now has taken a new turn by declaring the decimation of the terrorist group.
This has not gone well with many Nigerians who have witnessed the gruesome killings of some citizens by Boko Haram and other misguided elements under the guise of bandits and kidnappers. Recently, Pastor Enoch Adeboye led a protest he tagged Prayer Walk against the level of insecurity was another pointer to the fact that the acclaimed decimation of Boko Haram by Buhari and his Service Chiefs who are under immense pressure by prominent Nigerians to be fired.
The statement got Nigerians reacting as some believe the president may need to ease off by seeking another medical leave considering his inconsistent commentary on an issue that’s of utmost security concern to the nation.

The lawsuit filed by the Abacha’s family, the former Head of State to access some bank accounts in the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Jersey, Liechtenstein, and Luxembourg has been struck out by the Supreme Court on Friday, February 7.
In a letter written by the then Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), Kanu Agabi (SAN), the family’s access to the bank accounts was blocked by the Nigerian government in 1999.
While delivering the judgment in the appeal, a five-man panel of the apex court led by Justice Chima Nweze held that it was too late for the Abacha family to query the decision taken by the Federal Government of Nigeria in 1999.

The decisions of the lower courts (the Federal High Court, Kano and the Court of Appeal, Kaduna division) on the case being statute-barred were upheld by the Supreme Court.
Justice Amina Augie who read the lead judgment on behalf of Justice Nweze who was absent during the court session today said;
“In all forms, with the eloquent submission of the respondents’ counsel, and submissions anchored on the admitted evidence, I have no hesitation in affirming the concurrent decisions of the lower courts.
“I enter an order dismissing this appeal. I further affirm the concurrent findings and decisions of the lower courts. Appeal dismissed.”
